A veil embroidered with Sweetpeas for a breathtaking Westminster wedding.

I sat down with a steaming cup of tea, fire on, ready to go through all of Caitlin’s wedding photos to select my favourites for this blog. Well, that was an impossible task as I’ve come away with basically every photo favourited! Catilin got married in what I can only describe as a royal setting - The Chapel of St Mary Undercroft, Westminster. It is very hard to get married here (with Westminster Abbey itself reserved for the Royals of course), but Caitlin managed to secure the Chapel which in my opinion is also fit for a queen (trust me - you’ll see in the pictures!)

Caitlin wanted to embrace the long cathedral veil look for this epic venue, with an embroidery design totally personal to her. We wanted to frame her fairytale dress by embroidering the veil along the bottom edge, with a combination of her favourite sweetpeas, a thistle, and floral shapes based on her dress embroidery.

We also decided to tuck a monogram and wedding date off to the side of the veil, following the curve of a flower for delicate subtlety. I chose a font that was based on Caitlin and Rob’s stationery to tie it in beautifully. After swatching different embroidery techniques to find the perfect style to work with Caitlin’s dress, I decided to create the whole veil on my Irish embroidery machine. It’s a hand guided machine that I draw with, creating a silky, eye catching satin stitch. It was a flowing design travelling along the bottom edge of the veil, which sat just beyond Caitlin’s dress and finished off her bridal look in the most beautiful and meaningful way. You can literally feel the love in these pictures from the way Rob and Caitlin look at each other and I’m here for it!

“Thank you so much for creating such a beautiful veil! I had so many compliments on it and really couldn't be any happier with it…I really couldn't have imagined such a beautiful veil and I'm so happy to have it as a future family heirloom!”
